Hey partner! Kat here to inform you about our mission to trip inner city Nashville! See, our youth group has a passion to make a difference in the world. That starts with being different. Teens giving up their summer to serve strangers with open hearts is definitely something different. From Aug 5-10, we will be doing just that in the good ol’ city of Nashville. We will be partnering with YWAM and staying in a church in urban Nash.

There, we will be doing homeless ministry, service projects, intercession, and much more. We believe that if we do the possible God will do the impossible. These guys have been mowing lawns, playing guitar on the street corners, making lemonade stand, and just about anything else 14-17 yr old can do.

They are determined to see God move in their lives and the lives of others. YOU can be a part of that! Invest in our teens lives by sponsoring our teenagers. We are needing $2,000 in 2 weeks. That will cover our food, housing, transportation, and ministry.

I’m thinkin’, you spend about $20 on average on a Friday night (movie and ice cream). .stay home for a change, save up the money and contribute to our future learning to love in Jesus name! Be the church and support what’s good We love you and are praying for you! NASHVEGAS, here we commmeeee!

Went to San Fran this past weekend. Had a blast and a half! Can I tell you about it?

Have you ever shared your headphones with a homeless man while listening to Party in the USA?

Me either..

I did however have a great encounter with Frank while dancing down Market Street in San Fran. April went to go visit with friends so I had the day to explore. (my fave)

I threw on my headphones and turned on my Pandora Justin Bieber station and the musical began. The crowded streets turned into a choir and  the sun was my spotlight! Life was great and everything was beautiful UNTIL I pulled a granola bar out of my purse. Frank heard the chrackle of the wrapper and suddenly the rough looking with the sign on his backpack saynig “adopt Me” became my friend.

He turned to me and said

“Ill take some”

me: HUH? (as I remove my headphones)

him: That, I’ll take that, Im hungry.

me: Well, maybe f you weren’t rude in your approach people would consider feeding you You didn’t even ask sir!

him: my apologies, I forgot my manners, I’m an artist you see

me: you paint or what you artist you? can I see?

him: yup, anything you want, I can paint it!

me: thats talent sir!you gonna ask me nicely so I can share my granola with you?

him: May I please split whatever that is your eating?

me: how kind of you to ask! Yes, Im katherine by the way nice meting you

him: Names Frank. Thanks for making me feel alive.

me: its just Jesus Frank byeeeeeee

I can meet a couple needs just by being open and willing to share. This world is not about me. Its about enjoying God and His children.

and off me and Miley went..

Miley and I decided to dance every time we crossed the street. Then, I found a fashion photographer and decided to stalk him. I noticed the way he took into account all the details. The lighting, The way he positioned his subjects, The way he adjusted the lens and the way he stood affected the turnout of the couples pictures.

Got me to thinking, photography is not about vanity, its about broadcasting the beauty of Gods creation through film. All glory goes to Him. I was in awe at how the photographer knew in order to make the best shot for the couple, he had to adjust some things on His side. It rocked me. I want to be willing to adjust my life for the glory of God. Putting my life on the alter with no conditions…

I realized that everything I was thinking came back to God. Noticed I was consumed and liked it.

I switched from Bieber to Jon Forman & headed to Peets Coffee. This lyric  “Your love is Strong” was moving me into a new heartbeat of faith.

Im currently at this park in the city. There are a group of brightly clothes skinny jean wearing skater kids skating to my left. There is a wedding shoot going on to my right. Im in the middle. suits me. I like the safety of knowing Gods will. The voices in my life that are outside of the word complicates my security in Christ. Those voices don’t matter, I don’t care how much power you have or who you know. I want to know if it lines up with the word and if its what God is doing in my life. The word says to love your neighbor and love your God. It also says that love isn’t self seeking and it forgives and it trusts and it hopes. Love abstains from anything that may taint it bc its so refreshingly pure.

I journal this as a prayer

Lord,

May I hide Your good and perfect words in my heart so I won’t sin against You. I desire purity as a reflection of my love and devotion to You. Bless Frank. Help the local church to find Him and Him find You through the church. Let me know what to keep and let me know what to throw out. Convict me until repent. Then hold me as I cry in my brokeness. Then Lord, will you turn my weeping into dancing? I know you are good for your word.  You are the best Father Teacher and Friend I could ask for. Love you!!! So thankful for Your joy.

Life is c to the RAZY when you let God lead it! There is this band lyric that goes “Take control of the atmosphere..such a beautiful surrender” I really started to get that while being here in sunny California. When you allow God to take control of the space you are in..your school, your home, your work, your bedroom..You truly start seeing what is beautiful: a life lived wholly for Jesus Christ. Its really a party. Seeing once strangers become brothers and sisters is beautiful. its called Godly community. High fiving an 8 yr old lil girl (secretly praying for her safety and closeness to her Father) while jumping rope knowing she is going home to a home filled with violence and gang activity is beautiful. its called play. There is nothing like sharing life with a bunch of kids from Livermore CA who just want to get in right relationship with Jesus and then spread the word… I think sometimes this was the way life was intended. For us to be sold out to living holy and devoted lives filled with life and beauty.

these kids chose to use their Spring Break as a time to kick it in Urban LA doing mission work with YWAM(Youth With A Mission)

We did stuff like…

While on Skid Row, I got to meet a lot of different people. The ministry that we partnered with, Jonah Project, had us pick up trash on a couple of the blocks. Pastor Patrick passed out gloves and trashbags and told us to stay safe and be friendly. Sounds easy right? Well, Skid Row has about 13,000 homeless people who struggle with many different issues. Transgenders, Alcoholism, Drugs, Psych Problems, Depression, etc all reside in a 10 block by 3 block radius. While we were picking up the needles and food and toilet paper and much more not to be mentioned on the sidewalks we were praying. “God heal your people, bring them to relationship with you break the chains…” I had a woman/man come to me and start cussing me out for trying to pick up trash. She said she was just going to throw stuff down as soon as I left and that I was foolish and all kindsa other jazz. I started crying and just saying God loves you He loves you He loves you. Because, He does. Please pray for my friend. Pray that the love God has would fill the streets of Skid Row washing away any impurities.
Jesus never changed. His love breaks for His children. Don’t be afraid of change if it gets you closer to the One who stays the same now and forever. Grant us a heart of compassion.
So, there you have it friends! Live lived and loving every minute of it!
